After the fall of Adam and Eve, God's warning that the day they ate the fruit, they would surely die, came true, as they became spiritually dead by choosing their own desires over the commands of God. Their Original Sin resulted in the spiritual death of mankind, and disposed unto mankind a sin-nature, a nature that made them to be at enmity with God. God, in His plan of redemption, provided a way to be made right with Him again - and this Way is Christ. When we accept Christ, we are given a new heart, and our old sin nature is put off. We are brought from death to life, and called a new creation in Christ. Because of this new birth, we can walk free from the wages of sin which are death, and walk in the righteousness of God, free to obey, free to worship Him, and free to live in union with Him.
