Position Overview:
We are seeking a talented and self-driven Software QA Automation Engineer to join our innovative Datto EDR group in Dundalk, Ireland. As a vital member of the team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our Datto EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response) product through automated testing. This position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with engineering teams in Copenhagen, Denmark, and the United States on a globally distributed project, encompassing testing all aspects of the Datto EDR product, including a REST API and a cross-platform agent deployed on Windows, Linux, and macOS.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and execute automated test scripts for all areas of the Datto EDR product, including API and cross-platform agent testing.
- Utilize your 1-3 years of QA engineering experience to identify, record, and track software defects, ensuring thorough test coverage and verification of issue resolutions.
- Collaborate effectively with international engineering teams to understand testing requirements and align testing efforts with development sprints.
- Work closely with the Director of Engineering to ensure that QA automation efforts align with technical strategies and project objectives.
- Utilize your expertise in writing test scripts in Python to implement efficient and effective test automation.
- Employ a background in security to contribute to the enhancement of security testing and validation procedures.
- Perform API testing to verify the functionality and integrity of backend systems.
- Conduct cross-platform testing on Windows, Linux, and macOS to ensure consistent performance across different operating systems.
- Possess Windows certifications (if applicable) to validate expertise and competence in Windows-related testing.
- Take ownership of testing tasks, demonstrate self-driven initiative, and work independently in a distributed team environment.
- Uphold high-quality standards, documentation, and reporting throughout the testing process.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1-3 years of hands-on experience in Software QA Engineering, with a proven track record in QA automation.
- B.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent education in a related field.
- Proficiency in writing automated tests in Python.
- Experience with JSON REST APIs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and document software defects effectively.
- Background in security is considered an advantage, with a good understanding of security testing principles.
- Knowledge of cross-platform testing, including Windows, Linux, and macOS.
- Possession of Windows certifications (such as MCSA, MCSE) will be an added advantage.
- Familiarity with QA methodologies, processes, and testing tools.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with global teams effectively.
